Smoke from the Mosquito Fire in California is expected to fill Eagle Valley throughout the weekend.
Friday morning at 7 a.m., the air quality was “very unhealthy” according to AirNow.gov.
The weekend forecast called for the air to be “very unhealthy” throughout Friday, “unhealthy” on Saturday and “unhealthy for sensitive groups” on Sunday.
The Mosquito Fire, burning near OxBow Reservoir east of Foresthill in Placer County, has become California’s largest wildfire of the year. It is 20 percent contained, but has burned 67,669 acres according to Cal Fire. The fire started Sept. 7.
Firefighters may get a break as cooler temperatures and chances for rain and high elevation snow have entered the forecast through Wednesday.
When the air quality is “very unhealthy” people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children and teens should avoid physical activities outdoors.
Everyone else should:
• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities.
• Keep outdoor activities short.
• Consider moving physical activities indoors or rescheduling them.
