The Oasis Academy baseball team came back from a tough three-run loss at Wells to mercy-rule the Leopards in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday in Wells.
After falling 12-9 in the first game, the Bighorns won the second, 18-2. Oasis Academy played at Silver Stage on Tuesday and stays on the road on Friday with a game at Tonopah before returning home to face Silver Stage on Monday.
In the win over Wells, Oasis Academy jumped on the host with 12 runs in the first two innings to take a 12-2 lead into the third. The Bighorns added four in the third and two in the fourth, which invoked the 15-run rule to end the game.
Junior Sebastian Gomez Holguin, sophomore Zachary Budner and freshman Ryder McNabb each had two hits for Oasis Academy with McNabb leading the run-producing effort as he finished with five RBIs and a triple. Budner and freshman Matthew Bird each had extra-base hits. Holguin, Bird and freshman Kayden White each drove in three, and Budner and senior Casamaro White each had two RBIs.
On the hill, Budner picked up the win, striking out three in two innings while Kayden White pitched the last two innings and struck out one.
