Chad Stephens has been appointed deputy director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, according to a news release.
Stephens fills a vacancy in the department that has been open since July 2022, and will help NDCNR continue its mission to protect, manage, and enhance Nevada’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources, the release said.
Stephens began his state service in 2004, and during that time, he managed a wide range of environmental compliance, conservation, and sustainability programs for the state Office of the Military and the Nevada System of Higher Education. Stephens is a certified environmental manager and certified hazardous materials manager, holds a B.S. in Environmental and Natural Resource Science from the University of Nevada, and a M.P.H. from Tulane University.
“I am excited to have Chad Stephens join our team and help fill an important role at the agency,” NDCNR Director James Settelmeyer said in the release “He brings with him an extensive knowledge of environmental policy and decades of service to the state of Nevada. We look forward to having a full and robust team leading NDNCR, ensuring a healthy, vibrant future for Nevada and its natural resources.”
