Lyon County Manager Andrew Haskin, Commissioner David Hockaday and U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto surveyed county flood damage Thursday, according to a news release.

Following spring floods, Lyon County was the recipient of a federal major disaster declaration, which will provide the county with federal resources to repair damage and protect local businesses and communities.

“The flooding across Lyon County this year was devastating, and I made sure that they had access to the federal support they need to recover and rebuild,” Cortez Masto said in the release.

Based on four key recommendations provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Sacramento District Office, the county has partnered with the Nevada Division of Management to protect its communities from future flood threats.
