Some good-for-nothing scoundrel has been guilty of a robbery here, lately, that ranks only second in the schedule of crime, to the sacking of a church. The Curry Engine Company has been robbed of their belts and their silver plate which ornamented the side of the engine. The place is a heavy one, made of pure silver.

Wm. Admins, a desert character, better known as “Wild Bill,” was murdered at Indian Spring Ranch, 30 miles north of Los (sic) Vegas last Wednesday by a half breed Indian boy hanged Cochi. Cochi has been found in Vegas, where he was captured by Latimer.

Gov. Grant Sawyer’s office announced today plans to invite 55 legislators, state and federal officials on a Jeep caravan into the Lake Tahoe area proposed for a state park site. The state has been offered 13,580 acres in the area — along the eastern shore of the lake in Washoe and Ormsby counties — for $15 million.

A case of peace breaking comes up in the Justice Court, to-day, which involves what is a very rare offense in Carson — wife beating. The wife retired to a neighbor’s house and when came to get her back, a struggle ensued between him and the male occupants of the house, resulting in his ejectment.

A tough fish. Deputy Warden coulter says that a month ago he caught a two-pound catfish in Washoe Lake. Upon arriving at the prison, he absent minded lay threw him into a bureau drawer and forgot about him. Yesterday, while getting out a clean shirt, he accidentally stumbled upon the fish, whereupon he placed him in the water that surrounds the fountain in the prison court, merely as a matter of experiment, and in less than 5 minutes the fish was as frisky as ever.

Mayor Mackey is progressive and believes that Carson is somewhat behind the times. He has been agitating the plan of placarding the streets so that the people and visitors may know “where they are at.” At present time there is hardly a man in this city that can tell his neighbor where he lives or even where he lives himself.

Dan De Quille, who has been out on the C.&C. Railroad, says the sacred bird of Hawthorne is the pelican. The hunter who carries a dead pelican into that town might as well march into a Dutch village with a stork on his shoulder or turn his gun loose on the buzzards of Panama.

A state prison inmate who walked away from the honor camp at the medium security prison Tuesday is still at large. The 20-year-old inmate was tracked toward Lake Tahoe.
