Texan dies in Yerington crash on U.S. 95A

A Texan died in a crash on U.S. Highway 95A in Yerington on Aug. 1, according to a news release from the Nevada State Police.

Ruben Rodriguez, a 47-year-old male from San Antonio, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. The passenger of the vehicle, who was not identified by NSP, was flown to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Aug. 1, at 11:58 a.m., State Police responded to the crash at U.S. 95A and Lyon County mile marker 1.

The preliminary investigation indicates a black 2023 Ram 5500 was traveling northbound on U.S. 95A. Rodriguez, the driver of the Ram, failed to maintain the travel lane and crossed into the southbound travel lane. The Ram continued into the shoulder, through a culvert, and overturned.

This fatality marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Northern Command West’s 29th fatal crash, resulting in 32 fatalities for 2023.
