The Nevada Women's Fund awarded FISH its annual community grant of $25,000. This grant award will be devoted to the FISH Student Housing project and help alleviate the housing costs for women living within.

This way, the women can focus on their higher education without the burden of housing costs which will empower their learning potential, uplift families out of generational poverty, and strengthen the community.

The FISH Student Housing program is seeking motivated individuals who are enrolled in a technical trade degree path at Western Nevada College or Truckee Meadows Community College. These individuals will have the ability to finish their schooling given at one point during their lifetime they were unable to due to life circumstances. FISH is devoted to aiding these students through their academic journey by providing housing, transportation, and wrap-around services as needed.

Completion of the Student Housing apartment units will be in late October and the application process is to roll out in the early fall. As of now, 21 of the 36 apartments have been sponsored for furnishings such as kitchen appliances, washers and dryers, AC units, bedding, and living room furniture.
