Stacey Cooper comes to Churchill County School District from Washoe County, but her roots and heart lie in the small-town atmosphere.

Cooper was hired as assistant superintendent this spring.

She is from northwest Ohio where she taught bilingual (Spanish), multicultural education and ESL in rural migrant communities. Since her teaching years, she gained experience in transformational leadership in small, Ohio community schools under the supervision of the Ohio State Department of Education.

Cooper said she’s passionate about student learning, family engagement and doing whatever it takes to maximize opportunities for children.

Cooper is completing her doctorate and will defend her dissertation in the coming winter/spring. Her research studies the unique needs of smaller, rural schools in an era of high-stakes testing conflicting with the student-centered learning profile.

Relocating to Fallon has been a plan in the making for several years. Cooper and her family love the outdoors, camping, off-roading, drag racing, hunting and taking in the sunshine. She has been married for 25 years, and has six grown children and two loving fur babies.

“Words cannot express the excitement and readiness we have for this venture,” Cooper said. “As the new assistant superintendent for Churchill County, I am excited and committed to this community.”
