A Port Authority of the New York and New Jersey Police Department car that was damaged at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2001, is on loan from the San Diego Air & Space Museum to the city of Fallon.

Viewing at the Fallon Convention Center is 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1; Sept. 5-7; Sept. 12-15; and Sept. 18; and City Hall, 10 a.m.-noon, Sept. 11

The police car on display and its occupants were deployed as first responders to the scene of the World Trade Center Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001. There, the first of two hijacked airliners slammed into the 87th floor of the north tower. When the towers collapsed, the debris rained down on the streets below and crushed or damaged many vehicles beyond repair. Nothing is known about the occupants of the car or from where it was dispatched.

The car was stored at a Port Authority site untouched for 15 years until the San Diego Air & Space Museum received the vehicle.
