Letter: Roundabout art not needed

I just saw the rendition of the proposed sculpture for the roundabout in the Nevada Appeal.

The best thing that can be said about this sculpture is that it is a complete waste of $200,000.

On the other hand, it would be the final nail in the coffin to make Carson City one of the ugliest towns in Nevada.

With all the fake art around the freeway, aren’t you all sick of fake eagles, fake trees and fake mountains? All this fake stuff only serves to block the view of the real beauty.

If you really want something nice in the roundabout, put something natural like a real living Bristlecone Pine tree or two or three. For that kind of money you can plant them all over the city and they will outlive this proposed rust bucket.

We don’t need any more unnatural things to further contribute to the blight of this naturally gorgeous area. If you really want a statue put a small one of Mark Twain or Kit Carson sitting on a bench. People can sit next to him to rest and take pictures with real living pines in the background.

This proposed monstrosity and a graffiti magnet is awful. Please urge the supervisors to not approve!
