Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong is urging residents not to keep valuables in cars and to keep cars locked as multiple vehicle break-ins were reported Friday.
Five incidents were reported in west Carson, generally west and north of W. Nye Lane, Furlong said.
Furlong said the break-ins occurred around 1:30 a.m. Friday and targeted unlocked vehicles.
“All of them on unlocked cars,” he said, putting the total estimated impact of the thefts around $500.
The vehicles were not damaged, he said, though some credit cards were taken. Furlong emphasized most vehicle burglaries in Carson occur on unlocked vehicles.
“Typically, at this time of year, you need to secure your vehicles, and keep valuables out of your vehicles,” Furlong said.
Those affected can call CCSO’s nonemergency line at 775-887-COPS (2677).
