Along with its new head coach, Nevada now has a football schedule for the 2024 season.
The Mountain West announced its conference schedule on Thursday, setting home and away matchups for its 12 teams — with one added wrinkle.
For 2024, each Mountain West team will play a seven-game conference schedule, along with a single game against either Oregon State or Washington State of the Pac-12. The games against OSU and WSU will not count in the MW standings, and the Beavers and Cougars will not be eligible to win the conference title.
Nevada’s one-off opponent for next season is Oregon State; that game will be played at Mackay Stadium.
The two remaining Pac-12 schools and the Mountain West reached a scheduling agreement earlier this fall. That came about after the other 10 former Pac-12 schools announced they would leave for other conferences beginning with the 2024 season.
The Wolf Pack’s 12 opponents next fall break down as follows:
• Non-conference: vs. Georgia Southern, vs. Eastern Washington; at Troy, at Minnesota.
• Mountain West: vs. Air Force, vs. Fresno State, vs. Colorado State; at UNLV, at San Jose State, at Boise State, at Hawaii.
• Added game: vs. Oregon State.
Dates, kickoff times, and broadcast partners for the Wolf Pack’s 2024 games will be announced at a later date. Nevada’s non-conference dates are already known, running from Aug. 31 to Sept. 21 (the first four weekends of the season).
Nevada and Oregon State last played in 2018, also at Mackay. That game came down to a missed field goal on the final play, with the Wolf Pack holding on for a 37-35 win.
The 2024 scheduling agreement also added Colorado State to Nevada’s home schedule. That game will be the third meeting between the Pack and former head coach Jay Norvell, who is 8-16 in his two seasons at CSU.
Wyoming and Utah State, originally on the Pack’s 2024 schedule, will no longer play Nevada next season.
Nevada is coming off its second straight 2-10 season. Former head coach Ken Wilson was fired on Dec. 1 and replaced days later by current Texas defensive coordinator Jeff Choate.
