The Churchill County Republican Central Committee has announced Gov. Joe Lombardo will attend this year’s Lincoln Day Dinner on March 18.
CCRCC Chairman Gary Smith said Lombardo also will attend Lincoln Day dinners in other counties.
In addition to the announced state office holders, Smith said local Republicans will be in attendance.
“This is going to be a good lineup for Fallon,” Smith said.
Lombardo defeated incumbent Steve Sisolak in the general election to become the state’s 31st governor. A member of the Republican Party, Lombardo was Clark County sheriff from 2015 to 2023.
According to his biography, Lombardo, the son of a U.S. Air Force veteran, was born in Japan and lived in the country until he moved to Las Vegas in 1976. He is a 1980 graduate of Rancho High School. Lombardo attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a Master of Science in Crisis Management.
Lombardo joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school in 1980. He served in the Nevada Army National Guard and also in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1986.
In addition to Lombardo, Smith said two other constitutional officers have confirmed their attendance. Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony served on the Las Vegas City Council from 2009 to December 2022. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University (Michigan) in 1980 and both his masters and doctorate degrees from UNLV.
Andy Mathews, the state’s new controller, was an assemblyman from District 37 in Las Vegas. As a legislator, he opposed tax increases and introduced several reform measures to increase government transparency and efficiency.
According to his biography, he was president for four years of the Nevada Policy Research Institute.
Smith said plans for the annual dinner are being finalized, and tickets soon will be available on Eventbrite.
