The Oasis Academy boys basketball team picked up a pair of wins, including its first league victory, last week.
The Bighorns defeated Whittell, 50-27, on Jan. 23 in Fallon before defeating Coleville, 46-40, on Jan. 24 on the road for their first league win. Oasis Academy, though, fell to Pyramid Lake, 56-24, on Friday in Fallon.
After a big second half put the game away when the Bighorns outscored Whittell, 31-10, they followed with a six-point win the next day.
Sophomore Fenn Mackedon led the team with 15 points and freshman Trevor Barrenchea added 12, including a pair of 3-pointers. Freshman Kayden White scored six points and freshman Benton Snow had five.
Mackedon also led the team in rebounding with eight boards plus he had five blocks and three assists. Freshman Matthew Bird recorded seven defensive rebounds and had three assists. Barrenchea had a team-high six steals.
Pyramid Lake snapped the winning streak after blanking Oasis Academy, 20-0, in the second quarter to put the game away. The Bighorns, though, outscored the Lakers by one in the second half.
The Lady Bighorns basketball team fell to Coleville, 47-19, and Pyramid Lake, 68-22.
