This week, the senior in the spotlight is Carson High School’s Gracie Walt. She is a strong student, a talented athlete and a dedicated member of the community.

Gracie has maintained a 4.5 weighted GPA throughout her high school career, all while taking a number of honors and AP courses. She has really found a knack in her anatomy classes, which is a good thing, considering she wants to major in Exercise Science in college. Gracie has been a member of the National Honor Society since her sophomore year in high school.

Outside of the classroom, Gracie really shines on the soccer pitch. She started playing soccer at a young age and truly found her passion. Throughout her life she has played on AYSO and club teams, as well as four years of varsity soccer at Carson High School. Last year, she was named All Region Girls Soccer First Team Midfielder. This year she received the title of co-captain as well as earning the esteemed award of Defensive Player of the Year for Class 5A North All-Region Team.

Along with the time spent on schoolwork and athletics, Gracie still finds time to give back to the community. She is involved in numerous volunteer programs. For several years she helped with the local AYSO program, assisting with their opening ceremonies, in addition to other events. She also volunteers through the CHS Future Business Leaders of America and the annual CHS Craft Fair. Additionally, she spends time volunteering with the Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program. This includes many activities, such as clerical tasks, grocery shopping for senior citizens and helping with the veterans’ pancake breakfast.

Gracie recently announced her commitment to continue her soccer career at the College of Idaho. Congratulations and good luck, Gracie. Carson High School is proud of you.
