The Carson City Board of Supervisors recognized half a dozen city employees Feb. 16 for respective lengths of service.

Fire Battalion Chief Jason Danen received a certificate for 25 years with the city. Fire Chief Sean Slamon lauded Danen’s passion, compassion and ethical leadership. Expressing gratitude for his coworkers, Danen said he did not put in 25 years alone.

Two employees were recognized for 15 years with the city, Public Health Nurse Salvanette Hotaling and Public Safety Communications Operator Kimberly Tripp. Sheriff Ken Furlong praised Tripp’s abilities, while Health and Human Services Director Nicki Aaker said Hotaling was one of the first nurses to assist with testing during the COVID-19 pandemic and traveled to homebound residents to offer vaccinations.

Recognized for 10 years with the city were Sharon Daniels, who works for administration in the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and Ali Banister, chief juvenile probation officer. District Court Judge James Wilson said children are the future and that Banister improves lives.

“She empowers those around her to be better,” Wilson said.

Recognized for five years was Lyndsy Metzler Curry, senior legal assistant in the District Attorney’s Office. DA Jason Woodbury said Metzler Curry is not afraid to speak her mind. He said the office is fortunate to have someone who is invested in the job and cares.
