Braedan Wedderburn, Sujwal Reddy Yeedunuthula, and Nora Ahumada were awarded the seventh annual Rosemary Nebesky Memorial Scholarships by the Carson City Symphony Association.

The scholarship was established by John and Jennifer Webley in memory of Rosemary Nebesky. It is awarded each year to one or more students aged 5 to 17 for instrumental music lessons.

Wedderburn, 12, is a sixth-grade student at Carson Middle School. He has been playing trumpet and cello for a year. Although he plays cello in his school orchestra, he hasn’t had private lessons.

Yedunuthula, 11, is a sixth-grade student at Eagle Valley Middle School and has studied violin for four years and piano for a year. He plays in Carson City Symphony’s Youth Strings intermediate ensemble, and successfully auditioned for the Northern Zone Honor Orchestra.

Ahumada, 13, is an eighth-grade student at Eagle Valley Middle school. She has been studying violin for five years, beginning in the Symphony Youth Strings. She is now principal first violin in her school orchestra, and participates in the Honor Orchestra, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and EVMS Chamber Orchestra.

The next round of scholarships will be awarded in the fall.
