UPDATE: Attempted kidnapping suspect arrested

The suspect in a reported attempted kidnapping turned himself into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, according to a news release.

Omar Garcia-Madrigal called CCSO dispatch and identified himself as the suspect sought in the previous news release (below). Garcia-Madrigal’s Nevada identification photo confirmed he matches the identity of the suspect sought in this investigation, the release said.

Garcia-Madrigal agreed to speak with detectives regarding the incident. The Special Enforcement Team took him into custody at his residence without incident. Following interviews, Garcia-Madrigal was arrested for attempted kidnapping in the second degree and unlawful contact with a minor. Garcia-Madrigal is being held on $40,000 bail. 


INITIAL STORY

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify a suspect in an attempted kidnapping, according to a news release.

On Monday, Jan. 16 at 4:56 p.m., the suspect entered the CVS Pharmacy at 1980 N. Carson St. After loitering in the store for approximately 90 minutes, the suspect grabbed an employee by the wrist and pulled her outside of the store, the release said.

The employee was able to break the suspect’s grasp and return inside the store and called 911.

The suspect is not associated to any vehicles and appeared to walk to the CVS from the downtown area.

The suspect is described as a 22- to 26-year-old Hispanic male approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with an average build.

The suspect was last seen wearing tan or khaki pants, with a black hooded sweatshirt. The hooded sweatshirt has white vertical stripes at the shoulder, with red “49ers” writing on the chest and red inside the hood. The suspect was also wearing white shoes and a black baseball cap with a white logo in the center.
