The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection has issued a ruling that clears the way for a new water well to serve Silver Springs.
The ruling says the division will issue a Finding of No Significant Impact for construction of the new drinking water well by the Silver Springs Mutual Water Co.
The company operates the water system that serves the Silver Springs area but says its existing well on Lake Street has failed and can no longer provide drinking water to the community.
The environmental division found the well project to be consistent with requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act.
The well project will be funded money from the Nevada Drinking Water state revolving loan fund.
The old well will be converted into a monitoring well.
