The Oasis Academy basketball teams were swept last weekend after taking on Sierra Lutheran on the road on Friday and Virginia City in Fallon on Saturday.
The Bighorns, who traveled to Whittell (boys only) and Coleville earlier in the week, return home to face Pyramid Lake on Friday. The girls face the 1A state runner-up at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7 p.m. Oasis Academy also travels to Mammoth on Saturday.
In the Oasis Academy boys’ 45-14 loss to Sierra Lutheran in Carson City, the Bighorns trailed only by three possessions (17-8) at halftime before the Falcons held the visitors to six total points in the second half.
Four players scored for the Bighorns, with senior Casamaro White leading with six points while sophomore Fenn Mackedon scored four. Junior Jason Neumann and freshman Matthew Board each scored two points.
Mackedon led the team in rebounding with four to go with two steals, one assist and one block. Bird had three rebounds and three steals, and freshman Hunter Adams, White and Neumann each had two rebounds.
Oasis Academy followed with a 60-24 loss to the Muckers on Saturday.
For the girls, Oasis Academy fell to Virginia City, 37-21, after falling to Sierra Lutheran. In the Virginia City game, Dahlila Creer led the team with 13 points, Grace Laca added five and Taylynn Maynez had three.
