Catmandu, a cat sanctuary and adoption center at 1829 Brown St., in Carson City, will be closed to the public for renovations until Aug. 18.

Staff at the facility hoped to have renovations completed by the end of July.

“Unfortunately, there is still a lot of work to be done, and everything is taking longer than anticipated. Nothing is ever as easy as you hope, and more issues were revealed as we dug into the problem areas,” Catmandu Executive Director Linda Buchanan said by email. “We regret the delay but simply have no choice.

“It will absolutely be worth the additional time it is taking to get the makeover done. The new Catmandu is going to be amazing when it reopens Aug. 18, and we will be much better able to help the cats in our care and in the community.”

Buchanan thanked volunteers and community donors for helping renovate the facility. Catmandu, a nonprofit, was founded in 2014.
