The wife of a retired downtown Fallon merchant died in a three-vehicle crash July 21 at the intersection of Coleman and Casey roads and the Reno Highway (U.S. Highway 50), the Nevada State Police reported Monday after completing a preliminary investigation.
Kristie Jo Harmon, 79, was transported to Banner Churchill Community Hospital where she died from injuries sustained in the crash. Her husband Bill, 76, the driver of their 2006 Toyota Avalon, was transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno in critical condition.
The Harmons owned Creative Mark-It on 95 S. Maine St., until he retired. For many years, their business was known for their trophies, plaques and medals. Creative Mark-It was also the “go-to” business for trophies and plaques for many youth and high-school athletic teams.
According to the NSP, the Toyota was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 west of the intersection. Another vehicle, a 2022 Ram 2500 was heading west on the Reno Highway near the intersection, and a 2016 Ford F-250 was traveling behind the Ram. The NSP report stated the Toyota traveled across the center lane and was heading in the opposite direction when it struck the left rear of the Ram. The Toyota then continued east on the Reno Highway and stuck the Ford.
The NSP said both the Toyota and Ford came to a stop with the Toyota facing west in the eastbound lane. The Ford F-250 was facing west in the westbound lane.
The NSP said no injuries were reported for the occupants in either the Ram or Ford.
A member of the Harmon family said no services are planned at this time for Kristie Jo Harmon.
The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team) is investigating this crash.
