Fathers will have a special treat at Oats Park on June 17 when the Churchill Arts Council presents Paul Thorn.
Thorn will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Centennial Stage.
Born in Tupelo, Miss., raised among the same spirits (and some of the actual people) who nurtured the young Elvis generations before, Thorn has rambled down back roads and jumped out of airplanes, worked for years in a furniture factory, battled four-time world champion boxer Roberto Duran on national television, performed on stages with Bonnie Raitt, Mark Knopfler, Sting and John Prine, among many others.
Furthermore, Thorn made some of the most emotionally restless yet fully accessible music of our time, and he’s appeared multiple times on the Billboard Top 100.
Later in the summer on Aug. 19 p.m. on the Centennial. Stage, Blair Crimmins & The Hookers will delight the Community All-Reunion audience.
Blair Crimmins & The Hookers first appeared in Fallon in 2017. Crimmins began his current music career in Atlanta with a determination to bring Ragtime and 1920s style Dixieland Jazz to new audiences.
While playing small rock clubs around the Southeast, he developed a sound that is at once modern while being deeply rooted in the past. Crimmins has toured the country playing large venues and has opened for acts such as Mumford & Sons and Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
A multi-instrumentalist and music academic, Crimmins writes songs and arrangements for a classic New Orleans style horn section consisting of trumpet, clarinet and trombone.
This will be the second free performance of the summer. The free performances are presented in cooperation with the mayor, city council and city of Fallon.
