Parental rights group Power2Parent Union has announced a merger with Northern Nevada’s Battle Born Moms for Education.
The nonprofit P2P, based in Las Vegas, helps to identify, train and empower parents to advocate on behalf of their children in issues of school choice, parental rights and sex education and has been operating in Nevada for nearly eight years, according to P2P President Erin Phillips.
“Our base of operations has been in Southern Nevada while we’ve had many parents who have been on the list and across the state,” Phillips told the Appeal in February. “Nevada is such a unique state, and Southern Nevada’s needs are so unique from Northern Nevada, there is a lot of overlap for parental rights. Battle Born Moms for Education is an awesome organization we have been working closely with for the last 15 weeks, and their mission is in line with ours.
“I think it’s a natural transition to have them join with Power2Parent and be the eyes and ears and feet in Northern Nevada,” she said. “We’ll obviously add a significant number of parents to our list.”
While Phillips said the goal since 2022 was to have an internal organization service number of 20,000 parents, P2P currently has had about 15,000 but said with the Nevada Legislature in session as of Monday and the merger, the organization can now reach its target.
“We’re going to be able to provide more resources across the whole state of Nevada,” she said.
