The 11U Carson Valley Dirtbags travel baseball team bested five Northern Nevada teams to win the March Madness Blowout Tournament at the Golden Eagle Sports Complex in Sparks over the weekend.

The 11U Dirtbags began play in October, practicing entirely indoors due to Carson Valley’s inclement weather.

The 11U organization, coached by volunteers Jon Storke, Richie McGuffin, and Trent Tholen, includes 16 players from around the Carson Valley: Dutch Ganon, Mason Gonsalves, Chase Gray, Emmett Hatcher, Max Iwohn, Colt Knittel, Will Knittel, Wyatt Lyons, Colin McGuffin, Maclin Miller, Cullem Miller, Dylan Storke, Walker Tholen, Logan Thompson, Issac Trask, and Andres Zumstein.

“This tournament win was an amazing way to kick off the beginning of our Little League season, creating buzz and momentum amidst adverse weather conditions and a few delays this caused for the regular season,” said coach Jon Storke. “Baseball fever is alive and well in the valley, and I’m so proud of the resilience the team demonstrated this weekend to overcome the cold rain and pull out a huge victory.”
