The Capital City Community Band awarded its Richard Doede scholarship to Jonah Toral at is “Salute To Young Musicians” concert March 26.
The scholarship was established last year to honor a young member of the band who is a senior and plans to keep music in their future. The board of directors named the scholarship in honor of the band’s founding director, Richard Doede.
Toral has been a member of the CCCB for six years as a percussionist. He also participates in the CHS Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Winter Drum Line.
He has been accepted to TMCC, where he plans to study music theory, arranging, and composition. Toral is also auditioning for the UNR Wolf Pack Marching Band.
