We hear talk of a new paper in Carson — have heard it for some time just. Well, it wouldn’t look well for us to object — it would look sort o’ piggish, in fact, if we should say anything against the proposition — and wouldn’t make any difference anyhow. We have this much to say, however, namely that if anybody wants to start a paper here, we should like to have the supplying him with a hand press, a job press, a paper cutter and such racks and banks and cases as he needs, for we have an extra supply of all those things and should be glad to find a cash customer. They would be at a considerable discount to San Francisco prices; and would save them the freight charges.

We noticed a fire in the mountains yesterday on the spur which strikes the eye as you look out towards the snow circled peaks in the nor’-nor’-west. We made some inquiries to ascertain if anybody’s wood piles were up there, and nobody knew any more about it than we did. Guess it was the smoldering of an odd Indian campfire. The smoke was blue and so was the wind.
