Update, 11:30 a.m.: The Lyon County Sheriff's Office reported at approximately 11:30 a.m. it was notified of regional threats of a shooting during school and, after an initial investigation, believes such threats to be a "swatting attempt." According to a statement from the LCSO, deputies have increased their presence in Lyon County's schools until this threat has passed and the LCSO's investigation is complete.

Anyone with information that might help with the case is asked to contact the Lyon County Communication Center at 775-463-6600.

Original story: The Carson City School District reported Friday morning it has not received threats of violence or anonymous tips to unspecified schools similar to those being circulated in Washoe County School District.

District spokesman Dan Davis confirmed the message went out to families through the district’s ParentSquare system after the Washoe County School District  reported it was among districts across Nevada to receive “multiple anonymous tips and social media messages” pertaining to threats to unspecified campuses, according to the Reno Gazette Journal. The WCSD said classes would resume as normal as an investigation would be held in the matter.

According to Carson City School District’s message, no Carson City school has received such threat, and “Our Carson City Sheriff's School Resource Officers (SROs) are monitoring the situation and as always work with our school officials to assure the safety of our students.”
