The Nevada football program will continue to challenge itself in its upcoming season-openers.
The Wolf Pack with open the 2029 season on Sept. 1 at Ohio State, the university said in a news release Wednesday. It will be the first meeting between the teams.
Nevada now has three future road games scheduled against Big Ten teams. The Pack will travel to Minnesota for a Sept. 14, 2023, game, and also make a trip to Penn State to face the Nittany Lions for the 2025 season opener on Aug. 30.
Nevada’s opener for the upcoming season comes at USC, a current Pac-12 member that is scheduled to join the Big Ten in 2024.
With the addition of the Buckeyes in 2029, the Pack’s upcoming Power 5 opponents include:
2023: at USC; vs. Kansas
2024: at Minnesota
2025: at Penn State
2026: at UCLA
2029: at Ohio State; at Kansas
Nevada is coming off a 2-10 season, coach Ken Wilson’s first. The 2023 opener at USC comes 100 years after the Trojans beat the Wolf Pack during the 1923 season, the first for football at the L.A. Coliseum.
