Lee improves during state golf tourney

Fallon’s Ron Lee, the team’s only qualifier, finished 22nd in last week’s 3A state golf tournament at the Toiyabe Golf Club (par 71) in Washoe Valley.

Lee shot a 96 on the first day but improved by two strokes on the second day to finish with a two-day total of 190.

Legacy’s Vincent Kyle Forbes was the low medalist with a score of 154. Truckee won the team title with a 698 score followed by Fernley at 708.

False start ends McCoy’s season

Fallon junior Max McCoy, the school’s only state qualifier, had a rough go in his only event at last weekend’s 3A state meet at Liberty High School in Henderson.

McCoy, who finished second in the 100-meter dash at the regional, was disqualified for a false start at the state meet. The two best times, however, came from the South.
