Carson High’s boys and girls swim teams both finished fourth at Class 5A state swim meet last weekend.
For the Senator boys, Cole Bennett led the way with seven points in the 50-yard freestyle.
Bennett touched the wall in 21.58, finishing less than three-tenths of a second from first.
Fellow senior Austin Shim was fifth in 22.27, picking up four team points.
In the 100-yard freestyle Bennett finished third in 47.35.
Sophomore Leif Morway picked up a point for eighth place in the 200-yard freestyle.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Shim and Morway finished fourth and fifth, as the senior edged out his sophomore teammate by just over two seconds.
Bennett, Shim, Morway and freshman David Del Fiorentino combined for the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:29.55 for third.
The same foursome was also third in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with a time of 3:18.62.
For the Carson High girls, Katarina Klatt won the state title in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.49, winning by more than a second.
Klatt took third in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 52.20.
In the 200-yard individual medley, junior Brynn Russell was fifth in 2:17.75.
Freshman Larkin Russell scored four team points with a fifth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, stopping the clock at 1:58.30.
She was also fifth in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 5:20.26.
For the 200-yard freestyle relay, Klatt, Russell, Russell and freshman Gloria Dooley took fourth in 1:42.58.
The same squad took third in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:45.09.
