The third entry in local author Mike Hartman’s mystery series pits the plot’s heroine against an abusive ex, according to a press release issued by the author.
“The only way Sarah will be able to deal with her adversary and ultimately save her own life is to tap into a reservoir of strength and courage she didn’t even know she possessed,” reads the release.
“Sarah’s Mosaic,” is part of the Tony Morrell Mystery Series, which also includes “Jaguarundi” (2015) and “Deadly Voyeur” (2018). The latest was published in March and is available on Amazon as well as at The Purple Avocado, 904 N. Curry St.
The Carson City author said he spent most of his life, since 17, working on railroads.
“The first 32 years were with Santa Fe, Illinois Terminal, Western Pacific and Union Pacific,” he said. “The last 29 of those years were in the field of dispute resolution — representing management in negotiations, arbitration and mediation.”
Hartman formed his own consulting company before retiring, according to the release.
“One of the main motivators to my retirement was getting off of airplanes and out of hotels and settling into this wonderful community of ours with my wife, Charlene,” he said.
Retirement also allowed Hartman to focus on his love of writing.
“I enjoy a great story, which is why I love to write,” he said. “For me, writing is a labor of love, not a means to an end. If my stories provide even one reader with enjoyment or entertainment, the effort has been worth the while.”
Hartman said the storyline for the new book is a departure from the previous two.
“In ‘Sarah’s Mosaic,’ the focus is less upon the diabolical murderer and the search to apprehend him, and more about the personal journey of self-discovery of Sarah Morrell,” he said. “It is the story of a woman who overcame a traumatic and abusive marriage only to be faced many years later with a new, life-threatening attack.”
Hartman believes his latest will resonate with readers.
