Methamphetamine, heroin, a Nevada identification forgery lab and fugitive wanted on two felonies were discovered during a traffic stop Friday, Sept. 29 in Carson City, according to a news release from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Monica Main, 43, and Kyle Leake, 56, were arrested during the stop conducted by the Special Enforcement Team of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, the release said. Main was arrested on forgery and drug charges; Leake was arrested on the fugitive warrants.
During the vehicle search, detectives found 127 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of heroin, a methamphetamine pipe and a Nevada ID forgery lab with laptops and a printer in the trunk. Multiple blank identifications were discovered in the center console, ready for printing.
SET detectives initiated the stop Friday at 10 p.m., on a Mazda sedan for a cracked windshield and no front license plate as it traveled south on Interstate 580, approaching South Carson Street.
Main, the driver, identified herself using a Nevada ID card. The detectives identified Leake, the passenger, and discovered he had two felony fugitive from justice warrants out of California for $100,000 and $50,000 bail. Main admitted she had had previous drug use, prompting the detectives to request a CCSO K9 unit respond to the location, the release said.
As the K9 sampled air around the vehicle, it alerted to narcotics. Detectives found several blank Nevada ID cards and a false ID with Main’s photo but a different name. Detectives noticed Main had been fumbling her hands in the middle of her torn seat and found a shard of methamphetamine weighing about half a gram, the release said. In the vehicle's trunk, the detectives found the printer and two laptops.
Detectives also discovered Main was concealing about 127 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of heroin, and a glass methamphetamine pipe.
Main was arrested for forgery, possession of document identifying information to establish false identity, trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of a schedule I controlled substance.
Leake was arrested for the two fugitive from justice warrants.
