Douglas High volleyball beats Reed in four

The Tiger volleyball team took down Reed High on Friday at home in four sets by a final of 19-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-12.

Senior Shasta Garr led the Tigers with 13 kills while Aspen Been and Suzy Berger each tallied eight kills.

Garr and Sumer Williams both had three aces in the win while Williams also led the team in digs with 18.

Setter Ella Girdner dished out a team-best 22 assists.

UP NEXT: Douglas (15-12 overall, 3-7 in Class 5A North) took on Reno (15-5, 9-1) Tuesday before traveling to Bishop Manogue (17-12, 9-2) next week.


Girls cross country sixth, boys eighth at Truckee Invite

Both Douglas High cross country teams competed at the Truckee Invite over the weekend.

On the girls side, Douglas finished with 158 points to take sixth.

Sophomore Lucy Nord was 26th in 22:10 for Douglas while Ayla Nelson was right behind her, finishing in 22:15 to take 28th.

Senior Niza Barton crossed the line in 39th in a time of 22:59 while Amy Van Wagenen and Logan Axtell were 47th and 48th, respectively.

On the boys side, junior Luke Davis continued to lead the charge with a 17th place result in 17:40 for the Tigers.

Fellow junior Sage Spencer was next to finish, taking 38th in 18:38.

Senior Dennis Jorgensen was 43rd in 18:44.

Meanwhile Joel Nord (80th), Nathaniel Blair (85th) and Samuel Gaskell (88th) were the next runners to complete the race for Douglas.


Reno girls soccer shuts out Douglas

The Reno High School girls soccer team was able to blank Douglas, 4-0, on Saturday.

UP NEXT: Douglas (2-8-3, 0-2 in Class 4A North) will be back in action Saturday at Damonte Ranch (5-1-3, 3-1-2) for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
