In keeping with the Halloween spirit, Sierra Nevada Ballet is presenting a new full-length show called “Dracula — the Ballet” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Carson City Community Center. Another show will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts in Reno.
“Dracula –the Ballet” is an original show based on “one of the most famous pieces of English literature about the frightening vampire Count from Transylvania,” according to a press release from Sierra Nevada Ballet.
“This original production choreographed by award-winning artist Ananda Bena-Weber to the hauntingly beautiful music of Astor Piazolla draws upon Transylvanian folklore and history and includes drama, intrigue, suspense, sensuality, romance, deception, mystery, horror, death and murder with a touch of Victorian-era eroticism,” reads the release.
The story is based on the novel by Bram Stoker, published in 1897. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes.
