Letter: Lessons from the wild

Dear wild and beautiful and at times dangerous Nevada,

Whether living in or just visiting the mountains and desert, always be aware of your surroundings. Weather can change in the blink of an eye. You will be glad you brought that extra sweater or rain jacket. If you should get bogged down in traffic, a few snack bars and water will help with hunger until you reach your next supply station.

Before pursuing activities such as swimming in mountain lakes, kayaking, river rafting, trail hiking, boulder hopping, mountain climbing or just plain relaxing, learn about your activity, practice safety procedures, and make sure your equipment is in good working order.

Rangers are great resources for information about wild areas and the animals that live there. Hope you have a fantastic, crazy time.
