There was some sort of a Chinese feast day keep sacred on Sunday. This is how it happened then, that Mr. Ah Gee was fetched before Mr. Justice Witherell and fined $30 for having taken the liberty to discharge his pistol into the face of the moon on Sunday night. Mr. Gee paid his fine and took himself out of limbo.

Arriving by horse and buggy members of the Territorial Government met in Carson City on Nov. 25, 1961. While rain was splashing on the roof above, the territorial legislature began roll call on an act that was to create Ormsby County.

The Cal-Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe, facing the loss of its gaming license, filed suit against the Gaming Control Board which says the casino may be guilty of up to 200 violations including cheating, under reporting of its income and promoting prostitution.

A considerable gang of Chinese people were at work yesterday filling in with sand the space fronting the new locomotive house of the V.&T. Company. It is the intention, we understand, to lay the eleven tracks leading into that structure at once. Next spring there will be a straight line of track leading to the big new turn table. Meantime the machinery for the machine shop is getting into place as fast as it arrives.

The mother of senator Jones has completely lost her eyesight. It is thought that a certain occultist in San Francisco might restore it, but the aged lady has suffered so much in the past few years that she hesitates an operation.

By special arrangements with the weather man, next Sunday will be of the fine and dandy sort. There will be just enough sunshine in all its refreshing glory. And to add to the charms of the day, the Reno Wheelman Band, accompanied by a large number of people from the metropolis, are going to invade the garden city. In the afternoon they will need with the Nevada State Band and give an open-air concert on the beautiful grounds of the Capitol.

After hearing several complaints about sewage assessment bills the city council decided to give city attorney Richard Hanna “latitude” in deciding whether the city should withdraw disputed suits or press the suits into court.

Carson City is gearing up for Johnny Carson City Day Tuesday. That day, proclaimed by Gov. Richard Bryan and Mayor Harold Jacobsen, is to celebrate Carson City being represented by Chamber of Commerce president Tom Baker on the “Johnny Carson Show.”

The wood-chopping season is being near to its close, the hardy Kanucks, the most numerous class of our axmen, are to be found upon our streets and about the saloons, in great numbers. We guess that one hears more French spoken on Carson street these days than English.

A colored samson. For the past few days, a Herculean colored man named John Thomas has invited the attention of all who saw him on the street. He is a man of sublime physique, six feet three inches high, weighing 270 pounds; his head is magnificently constructed, and his features are simply classically molded.

There are lots of things in Carson that need fixing but the worst of all is that sidewalk in front of the blacksmith shop opposite the Briggs House. If nothing else is done a “DANGER” sign should be immediately posted in a conspicuous place to warn the pedestrian, else the owners of the property may soon have a damage suit on their hands.
