Douglas High girls soccer was able to hold its position in the final playoff spot after besting Carson, 2-1, Tuesday on the Senators’ field.
Bliss Moody had one of the two Tiger goals and Morgan Davis was credited with an assist as well.
UP NEXT: Carson (1-5-2 in Class 4A North league play) and Douglas (2-3-3) will meet again Tuesday in what will likely determine who is headed to the playoffs.
Huskies down Carson volleyball in four
Reno High volleyball was able to overcome dropping the first set to Carson on Tuesday, pulling out a 3-1 win – 16-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-20.
The loss was Carson’s fifth in a row.
UP NEXT: Carson (17-7, 5-6 in Class 5A North) will travel to Reed (4-14, 2-10) Tuesday for a 6 p.m. start.
Douglas girls tennis into team semifinals
With a 12-6 win over fourth-seeded Galena, the Douglas High girls tennis team moved into the Class 4A North team semifinals where it took on Bishop Manogue on Thursday.
The Tigers lost to the Grizzlies in their only meeting during the regular season.
Douglas’ win was due to a clean sweep on the doubles court as the Tigers won all nine points available.
Jasmine Shoemaker and Hannah Johnson were 3-0 with wins of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-0.
Ava Gildea and Alexis Hyde were just as successful with set scores of 6-1, 6-2, and 6-0.
Completing the sweep was Kylie Girdner and Charlotte Bonar, who won all three of their sets by scores of 6-2, 6-2, 7-5.
Annie Hill was perfect in singles, taking all three of her tightly contested sets 6-4, 6-4, and 7-5.
Douglas boys tennis ousted from postseason
The Douglas High boys tennis team was the No. 5 seed heading into Monday’s Class 4A North regional team tournament.
The Tigers saw their season end there, falling 10-8 to No. 4 seed Spanish Springs.
Kolten Brown won all three of his singles matches by finals of 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1, while Bennett Schoenemann picked up a pair of points with wins of 6-2 and 6-4.
In doubles, the Tigers got two points from the pairing of Abram Millward and Bryce Towsend.
Brody Fontenot and David Alexander earned the final Tiger doubles point.
Bishop Manogue sweeps Douglas volleyball
The Tiger volleyball team couldn’t hang on against Bishop Manogue on Tuesday, falling in straight sets – 25-15, 33-31, 25-16.
UP NEXT: Douglas (15-14, 3-9 in Class 5A North) will host Galena (4-13, 2-8) on Tuesday.
