In September, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers worked with Partnership Carson City to conduct underage alcohol compliance checks, and five businesses in the community failed, according to a press release issued by CCSO.
“This was conducted with the support of two eighteen-year-olds who were sent to local businesses that sell alcohol in an attempt to purchase alcohol,” CCSO said. “Compliance checks are conducted to keep alcohol out of the hands of minors.”
In total, 16 businesses were screened during the compliance checks. The following five Carson City businesses were cited for failing the check:
“Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Partnership Carson City remind businesses to be diligent in checking identification to ensure those purchasing alcohol are 21 years of age or older,” according to CCSO. “It is Nevada law to check identification when selling or serving alcohol.”
Those with questions about the compliance checks can email CCSO Sgt. Steven Olson at SOlson@carson.org.
