Carson Antiques and Collectibles Mall will relocate to 1831 N. Carson St., in mid-November if all goes according to plan.

Tuesday, business spokesperson George Alm confirmed the antiques and collectibles mall currently located at 3727 N. Carson St., will be moving to the roughly 20,000-square-foot building that formerly housed Grocery Outlet. The move would effectively double the square footage of the business and grow the number of vendors from about 30 to 60.

Alm said the mall’s vendors are from all over the state, attracting a range of customers.

“We get people from all over the world in here,” he said of the current store.

Alm pointed out décor stores have closed in the area, such as Pier 1 imports, and the antique and collectibles mall can help fill that gap.

“We’ll be serving a need in the community,” he said.

Also part of the change is Evergreen Gene’s owner Gene Munnings, who will be joining forces with Alm at the new location.

Tuesday, Munnings confirmed Evergreen Gene’s at 3060 Highway 50 is closing, but the gift items and year-round Christmas décor products will be moved to the new location for Carson Antiques. The nursery items at the store were donated to Greenhouse Garden Center in south Carson, including plants, soils and mulches, Munnings said.

“We appreciate all the support we have had over the past 26 years and look forward to the new chapter in a smaller business, but I am still able to offer anyone garden information since my college education in ornamental horticulture is to be shared with anyone who needs it,” Munnings told the Appeal. “I hope that you will shop at the Greenhouse Garden Center for unique plants and supplies. I have enjoyed growing these plants here in Carson City, but due to health issues, I need to reduce my time requirements to preserve my remaining health, so I can stay here as long as possible.”

Munnings stressed Evergreen Gene’s will be open this Friday, Oct. 27, to clear out product and donate 100 percent of proceeds to the Meals on Wheels program at the senior center.
