The Nevada Gourd Society is hosting its fifth annual Silver State Art Festival from Sept. 8-10 at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall.
This festival is a gathering of more than 40 award-winning artists focused on sharing their gourd art, paintings, photography, jewelry, glass and woodworking art with the community.
The festival will run from 5-8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
There’s no cost.
Art classes will take place all three days including: how to work with gourds, watercolor, Zentangle, marbling on silk, basketry, felting, woodturning and more.
The benefactor of this year’s fundraising will be the Nevada Humane Society of Northern Nevada. Last year, thanks to the support and generosity of the artists, businesses and the community, the festival was able to donate $13,000 to the Nevada Humane Society. In total, we have raised $32,650 in donations for various non-profit organizations in the Carson City area. Previous recipient: Kids and Horses, Holiday with a Hero, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada.
