Bighorns cross country competes in Fernley

Sept. 14, in the 14th annual Fernley Roadhill Invitational, a 5K course run mostly on dirt roads and hills, Oasis Academy finished last in the eight-team field with 197 points but was six points shy of overtaking Dayton. Bishop Manogue won the event with 42 points.

Pacing the Bighorns was sophomore Hunter Adams, who finished the course in 25:04 followed by sophomores Jay Frederick, 26:20, and Kayden White, 26:22. Freshmen Leonidas Arcoraci and Kamron Bracken finished one second apart with Arcoraci edging his teammate with a time of 27:15. Sophomore Chase Ackerman rounded out the team’s score with a run of 31:22.

Fernley junior Kael Paz won the race in 18:19.

Sophomore Kayla Greenberg was the team’s lone runner in the girls division as she finished in 34:41. Fernley senior Kori Scott won the race in 25:12.


Girls Golf

The Oasis Academy team was on the road last week, competing at Truckee on Monday and Carson Valley on Wednesday. No individual results were available at press time.
