The Greenwave girls soccer team is off to its hottest start in a decade.

After falling to Elko in its home opener two weeks ago, Fallon has posted shutouts in five-consecutive wins, outscoring the opposition 34-0, to improve to 7-1 on the season. Including its first two wins of the season, Fallon has a 50-0 scoring advantage.

Fallon hasn’t started this strong since the 2013 season when the Wave finished 15-4-3 overall before falling to Truckee in the playoffs.

All four wins last week came on the road with the Wave blanking Pershing County, 11-0, on Tuesday before shutting down Battle Mountain, 10-0, the next day. Fallon completed the sweep by taking down a pair of Lyon County schools, Fernley, 2-0, and Dayton, 5-0.

Because of the recent realignment, 2A schools Pershing County, Battle Mountain, White Pine and West Wendover were moved to the 3A East.

Fallon, despite the loss to Elko, which is 6-0 and has 18 points, leads the standings with 21 points. Lowry is tied with Elko for second, followed by Fernley in fourth with 15 points. Fallon leads the Northern 3A region as Truckee is 6-0 with 18 points in the 3A West.

The top four teams from each of the East and West leagues advance to the regional tournament, which begins Oct. 28 in Elko. The tournament winner and runner-up advance to state.

Fallon travels to Lowry on Saturday.

Eight players scored goals in the win over Pershing County with freshman Karlie Simper, sophomore Jada Anatastio and junior Yasmien Laceste each scoring twice. Seniors Kira Johnston, Madison Lewis and Zoey Jarrett, and freshmen Kaylee Craig and Kylee Simper each scored one.
