Update: Geiger Grade overnight lane closures noted below will now begin Monday evening, Sept. 25, said the Nevada Department of Transportation on Saturday.
Original story:
Overnight single lane closures will begin Sunday, Sept. 24 on Geiger Grade (State Route 341) as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces bridges.
Through mid-October, drivers will see overnight single lane closures weeknights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as the following bridges are resurfaced:
• Geiger Grade between Alternate U.S. 395 and Veterans Parkway (near the roundabout) in Washoe County.
• State Route 341 near Sheldon Street, southeast of downtown Virginia City.
Lane closures will first take place on Geiger Grade between Alt. U.S. 395 and Veterans Parkway for the first three weeks of construction, followed by State Route 341 southeast of downtown Virginia City.
While the majority of delays will be minimal, traffic delays of up to 30 minutes are possible as traffic flaggers alternate directions of traffic through the work zone. Oversize trucks of more than 16 feet wide may periodically be prohibited through the work zone.
Motorists are advised to leave extra travel time and to drive at posted work zone speed limits, or slower as necessary for conditions.
