Homecoming is winding down at Churchill County High School with movies, the big football game against Fernley and Saturday’s dance.
Thursday is “Tacky Tourist” dress-up day. The Fallon Theatres will also hold a CCHS-students-only movie night for “Back to the Future” and “Grease” beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free with a student body card and concessions will be available for purchase.
Friday is “Neon or Green and White Spirit” day. The varsity Homecoming football game begins at 7 p.m. against longtime rival Fernley. The Homecoming queen and her court will be announced at halftime.
The Homecoming dance with a “Disco” theme will run from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at the CCHS auxiliary gym. Admission to the dance is $5 with a student body card. Guests are $15 each, and they must submit a request form to attend.
The week began with a dress-up theme of "Anything but a Backpack." Students could use any school appropriate item except a backpack to carry their things for the day.
The Homecoming parade completed its traditional march down Maine Street before the Powder Puff football game between the junior and senior girls. The Powder Puff football teams faced off at 6:30 p.m. on the Edward Arciniega Field at CCHS. A bonfire followed the game. Results of the game are on the LVN website and Facebook page.
Tuesday’s dress-up theme was divided by class. The freshmen dressed as “Babies,” sophomores as “Little Kids,” juniors as “Midlife Crisis,” seniors as “Senior Citizens” and staff could dress as any of the day’s four themes.
Wednesday was “Country vs. Hippies” day. Students participated in a lip sync contest.
