The Fallon City Council adopted an ordinance April 2 and also heard the February Police Department report.
In a step toward financing some city improvements, City Clerk/Treasurer Sean Richardson said two bond proposals had been received from J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Capital One. Both proposals were received the day before the meeting and Richardson said the city staff had not had enough time to fully evaluate the options. The council approved the “2024A Medium-term Bond Ordinance” that allows the staff to move forward with the funding once the evaluation is complete.
• In his summary of the February police department report Chief Ron Wenger said officers responded to a total of more than 650 calls for service.
Thirty-five total arrests included seven felony warrant arrests, three probation and parole arrests, one gross misdemeanor arrest, one misdemeanor arrest, 11 misdemeanor warrant arrests and four juvenile misdemeanor arrests.
Officers also issued 18 moving citations and 78 traffic warnings, and they also handled 19 traffic accidents.
Officers provided traffic control during a special detail for the Heart Health Awareness Month fountain dye ceremony on Maine Street, read to students at Lahontan Elementary School and conducted an interview for a college student’s paper.
Volunteers in Police Service donated 89 hours to the agency. The Fallon Animal Shelter took in 66 animals within the county, 38 from the city and 14 from tribal lands.
