The Greenwave baseball and softball teams clinched 3A East titles and No. 1 seeds to the regional tournaments after sweeping Spring Creek on Saturday.

After Friday’s games were rained out, Fallon’s baseball squad (14-0) needed a series win against undefeated Spring Creek to take the title and did that with a doubleheader sweep. The softball team (11-3) needed one win but got two, as well. Friday’s game will not be made up.

Both teams received a double-bye for the regional tournament and will play next week in Spring Creek.

In a battle of unbeatens, pitching paved the way for Fallon, winning 9-3 and 15-0 on Saturday in Elko County.

Baylor Sandberg continued his dominance on the hill, throwing a no-hitter in the second game. He struck out 11 in five innings while giving up a pair of walks in the mercy-ruled game.

Sandberg did it with his bat, driving in five on four hits, including a home run and double, while Brady Alves doubled twice, singled twice and drove in one. Bryce Adams drove in three on three singles, James Kelsey drove in two and Anthony Juarez had an RBI. Chase Carnhan had two hits.

In the 9-3 win, Fallon jumped on the Spartans for five runs in the first two innings and never looked back.

Kelsey and Juarez combined for 12 strikeouts with Kelsey fanning nine in four innings despite issuing 10 walks in a no-hit effort.

Sandberg and Alves each had three hits with Alves homering and doubling. Sandberg and Eric Cornejo drove in two, and Carnahan and Kelsey each had two hits. Kelsey also drove in two and Adams had an RBI.
