Alec Emmons had visited Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe several times over the years with his girlfriend.

With a familial background in small business, Emmons – an Indiana native – thought Carson City was the perfect location to open The Golf Lodge.

The Golf Lodge will be an indoor golf simulator in Carson and Emmons thought it would be the ideal spot for a city full of golf courses.

“From that point on I was committed to moving out here and pursuing my dream,” said Emmons.

FINDING THE IDEAL SPOT

The Golf Lodge, which is set for its grand opening weekend Aug. 23 through 25, will be located at 4530 S. Carson St., Suite 1-2.

“I really liked that there was an outdoor patio area for sitting outside and enjoying a drink, too,” said Emmons. “I got to build out to my very last spec and customize everything the way I wanted for that ultimate indoor golf experience.”

The newest indoor golf simulator in the area will feature four Trackman simulators, which are used by PGA Tour pros.

As the final touches are made on the interior, those interested can expect three standard golf bays, each with its own simulator.

There will able be a private VIP room available to rent.

“I don’t want it to just be another golf simulator popping up. I want it to be the best experience anyone can have,” Emmons said.

Each simulator bay will have a litany of options from the practice range to mini golf and, of course, over 330 full fledged courses such as Pinehurst or Le Golf National, currently being showcased in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Golf Lodge will also have several TVs stocked with sports packages to allow customers to watch any event they want while taking a few swings.

HOURS AND COST

Emmons said The Golf Lodge will be open every day, but the hours of operation will differ depending on the day. Thursday and Sunday the shop will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday those hours are extended from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. while Monday through Wednesday, the business will be open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

There’s plenty of other caveats as Emmons wants to be a prime spot for any larger events, too.

“It’ll be great for special events, parties and corporate parties too,” said Emmons. “We have a whiskey lounge, country club-style feel when it comes to the atmosphere of the bar.”

A regular rate will be $40 per hour in one of the three standard bays, which can be done solo or up to four golfers.

The VIP room will be $75/hour and will also have couches and live television.

Simulator bays can be booked online.

There will be an option for nearly unlimited access as well for $400 per month with a founding membership.

“You would have a key card and it’s 24/7 access similar to Anytime Fitness. You can scan yourself in and you have unlimited golf, two hours per day. Anything after those two hours you will have to pay 50 percent off of the regular time,” Emmons said. “That’s kind of the ultimate flexibility for someone who wants to come in at 6 a.m. before work or after they get off a late-night shift.”

Emmons said yearly and lifetime memberships also will be available.

PGA pros will also be available for lessons at The Golf Lodge. Prices for lessons are still being determined based on availability.

The grand opening weekend will feature a tournament, mini games, cornhole, a food truck and an assortment of drinks from cocktails and beer to wine.
