The Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, is beginning rehearsals for its 40th season on Tuesday, Aug. 13.
Weekly rehearsals are from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS Church, 411 N. Saliman Road in Carson City. Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Western Nevada College professor Gary Schwartz, is open to singers high-school age and above.
The first concerts of the season, "A Night on Broadway," will be on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, and on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Carson City. The concert program features hit songs from a dozen shows and includes music from "Wicked."
Carson Chamber Singers is supported in part by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, and by private donations. Participation is free; singers are encouraged to join the Carson City Symphony Association.
