The sold-out annual Oasis Academy Future Fest Fundraiser held in April had one specific goal: to raise funds for the much-dated kindergarten through eighth grade playground. Thanks to the generosity of donors and with additional funds from the school that goal is one step closer to reality.

With project estimates coming in over $100,000 the remodel will need to be opened for bidders. Oasis Academy administration hopes to begin that process in the next few weeks. The administration is excited for the renovation but asks for patience as they navigate the process.

“Transforming our playground is a journey that requires time and careful planning,” said Amanda Barbosa, elementary and middle school principal. “We know our Bighorn Community is excited to see changes and we want to make sure we do it correctly and focus on the critical needs in updating the playground.”

The worn-out turf and at least one additional piece of playground equipment are the top priorities for the school.

Students were able to give their voice in the project when they created their dream playground placemats that were at every table during the Future Fest Event. monkey bars were the top priority for the students.

“The placemats from Future Fest gave us a great starting point to know what the students want to see in the remodel,” she said. “We know that playgrounds are vital spaces where imagination takes flight, friendships blossom, and the joy of movement ignites a lifelong love for play.”

Oasis Academy is very grateful for the sponsors and donors from the dinner.
